The Solidarity Institute is a digital research institute for the 21st century. It is a national organization based in Los Angeles, California that bridges the gap between traditional and digital research, education, and community organizing to connect diverse and distant constituencies in a collective vision for social justice. We have engaged in this work organizationally since 2001, and specialize in the use of online, digital, and social-media technologies to support existing and new community organizing efforts.
Our work is informed by the People’s Institute, the Center for Third World Organizing, the Challenging White Supremacy workshop, the Catalyst Project, the Alliance of White Anti-Racists Everywhere – Los Angeles, and the Department of American Studies & Ethnicity at the University of Southern California.
Our work has received recognition from the Ford Foundation, the Council of Editors of Learned Journals, the Harry S. Truman Foundation, Bloomsbury Press, Greenwood Press, the Associated Press, NBC, ABC, Current TV, MTV Networks, Complex magazine, and various universities including Yale University; the University of Southern California; and the Universities of Minnesota, Kansas, Missouri, and Colorado.
Please check out our projects and contact us if we can be of service to your organization, community, or effort.
